These Terms & Conditions govern the provision of behavioural rehabilitation services by The Cognitive Canine ("we", "our", or "us"). By submitting an

application, engaging our services or participating in a Behavioural Rehabilitation Programme, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

OUR SERVICES

The Cognitive Canine provides professional canine behavioural rehabilitation services designed to address complex behavioural concerns through structured, evidence-informed rehabilitation programmes.

Our services are not general obedience training or puppy classes. Rehabilitation programmes are individually developed following assessment and are tailored to each patient's behavioural presentation, household and rehabilitation goals.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Entry into our practice begins with submission of a Behavioural Rehabilitation Application.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the practice.

Every application is personally reviewed before an invitation to participate in a complimentary suitability consultation is extended.

The Cognitive Canine reserves the right to decline applications where we believe another service, professional or treatment pathway would better serve the patient or family.

BEHAVIOURAL ASSESSMENT

Accepted applicants will complete a comprehensive behavioural assessment before rehabilitation begins.

The assessment forms the foundation of the Behavioural Rehabilitation Programme and allows us to determine appropriate recommendations, management strategies and programme structure.

PROGRAMME ENROLMENT

Behavioural rehabilitation is delivered through structured rehabilitation programmes rather than isolated appointments.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, programmes require a minimum six-month commitment.

Programme recommendations are based upon behavioural complexity, household dynamics and clinical judgement.

PROGRAMME FEES

Programme fees are payable in accordance with your selected payment option.

Payment options may include:

• Monthly payments
• Six-month payment in full
• Twelve-month payment in full

Where discounts apply for advance payment, those discounts apply only while the agreed programme remains active.

APPOINTMENTS

Appointments are scheduled by mutual agreement.

Clients are responsible for ensuring suitable access to the patient throughout each appointment.

Behavioural rehabilitation appointments typically occur monthly unless otherwise recommended.

CANCELLATIONS

We understand that unexpected circumstances arise.

Clients should provide as much notice as reasonably possible if an appointment requires rescheduling.

Repeated late cancellations or missed appointments may affect programme scheduling or continuation.

CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful behavioural rehabilitation requires active participation.

Clients agree to:

• Provide accurate information.
• Follow agreed management recommendations.
• Inform us of significant behavioural or medical changes.
• Notify us of changes in medication or veterinary treatment.
• Maintain open communication throughout rehabilitation.

Behavioural outcomes depend significantly upon client implementation and consistency.

COMMUNICATION BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS

Where included within your programme, email and text support is available between appointments.

Communication is intended to support rehabilitation and programme adjustments.

Emergency veterinary situations should always be directed to an appropriately qualified veterinarian.

MULTIPLE PATIENTS

Programme recommendations are based upon active behavioural patients rather than simply the number of dogs within the household.

Where clinically appropriate, resident dogs may be incorporated into the rehabilitation process without additional fees.

Cases involving multiple active behavioural patients may require an Advanced or Intensive Behavioural Rehabilitation Programme.

VETERINARY CARE

Behavioural rehabilitation does not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

Clients remain responsible for obtaining appropriate veterinary care where recommended.

The Cognitive Canine may recommend referral to veterinary professionals or collaboration with your existing veterinarian where appropriate.

NO GUARANTEE OF OUTCOME

Behavioural rehabilitation involves living animals whose behaviour is influenced by genetics, learning history, environment, medical conditions and ongoing management.

Accordingly, no guarantee, warranty or promise is made regarding behavioural outcomes.

Recommendations are based upon current information available at the time of consultation.

SAFETY

Clients remain responsible for maintaining appropriate safety precautions throughout rehabilitation.

Where a patient presents a risk of injury to people or animals, management recommendations should be followed until advised otherwise.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All written reports, Behavioural Rehabilitation Plans, educational materials, forms, videos and resources provided by The Cognitive Canine remain our intellectual property unless otherwise stated.

They may not be reproduced, distributed or published without written permission.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO

Clients may voluntarily provide photographs and videos to assist behavioural assessment.

No client material will be publicly shared without express written consent.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, The Cognitive Canine is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from participation in behavioural rehabilitation services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
